ID NYC: Government identification for NYC Residents, including non-citizens

Starting in January 2015, New York City residents will be able to sign up for IDNYC – a government-issued identification card that is available to all City residents age 14 and older. Immigration status does not matter and applicants will not be asked about their status.  The ID is free to people who apply this year and the NYPD are instructed to accept these ID cards as valid identification.  Applications are available in 25 languages.  Applications will be available at the 12 Enrollment Centers, which are spread throughout each borough.  Attached is a copy of an application.

There are a number of other benefits to the card, which is meant to entice citizens as well.  For calendar year 2015, with an IDNYC Card you are eligible for a one-year free membership package at 33 of the City’s leading cultural institutions, including world class museums, performing arts centers, concert halls, botanical gardens, and zoos in all five boroughs.  This membership will be comparable to each institution’s standard one-year membership package and will give IDNYC card holders a range of benefits including free or discounted admission, and access to special events, and to museum shops and neighborhood businesses.  So feel free to check it out for yourself as well!

Please note that the ID is not a replacement for work authorization
